1 Korintus 5:7
Konteks5:7 Clean out the old yeast so that you may be a new batch of dough – you are, in fact, without yeast. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
1 Korintus 8:4
Konteks8:4 With regard then to eating food sacrificed to idols, we know that “an idol in this world is nothing,” and that “there is no God but one.” 1
1 Korintus 16:2
Konteks16:2 On the first day of the week, each of you should set aside some income 2 and save 3 it to the extent that God has blessed you, 4 so that a collection will not have to be made 5 when I come.
[8:4] 1 sn “An idol in this world is nothing” and “There is no God but one.” Here and in v. 1 Paul cites certain slogans the Corinthians apparently used to justify their behavior (cf. 6:12-13; 7:1; 10:23). Paul agrees with the slogans in part, but corrects them to show how the Corinthians have misused these ideas.
[16:2] 2 tn Grk “set aside, storing whatever he has been blessed with.”
[16:2] 3 tn Grk “set aside, storing.” The participle θησαυρίζων (qhsaurizwn) indicates the purpose or result of setting aside the extra income.
[16:2] 4 tn “To the extent that God has blessed you” translates an awkward expression, “whatever has been prospered [to you].” This verb has been translated as an active with “God” as subject, taking it as a divine passive.
[16:2] 5 tn Grk “so that collections will not be taking place.”
